Vision Document for 2023-24 to 2027-28
The Department of Commerce, Mizoram University is committed to achieve the mission of facilitating the development of efficient and effective human resources required by the business world through quality business education and personal growth.
Action Plans
1. Executing the National Education Policy, 2020 effectively and efficiently by updating the Syllabus of B.Com, M.Com and PhD coursework regularly based on the feedback provided by different stakeholders.
2. Establishing the placement Cell in the Department with an objective of improving the passed-out students’ placement.
3. Strengthening the Entrepreneurship Knowledge Cell in the Department by signing MoUs with the support institutions and improving its resources.
4. Successfully providing supervision for at least 20 PhD scholars, that is, four scholars every year on average.
5. Publishing at least 70 papers in UGC-CARE journals, that is, 14 papers every year on average.
6. Organising at least five National Seminars, Workshops etc.
7. Conducting MBA (Executive Development Programme) for the officers of banks in Mizoram.
8. Preparation and disseminating of the results of Working Papers to the trade and industry and to the Government Departments in Mizoram which are based on the internship, dissertation etc. of the students.
9. Signing of MoUs with the relevant bodies for furthering education and research in the field of Commerce.
The Department of Commerce, set up in July 2002, is committed to achieve the mission of facilitating the development of efficient and effective human resources required by the business world through quality education and personal growth. The Department has been offering M.Com and Ph.D programmes. In addition, the Department has been offering MBA Executive Development Programme for the benefit of the officers of Mizoram Rural Bank (MRB) as per the MoU signed between Mizoram University and MRB. BVoc (Handloom Weaver) programme under NSQF is being offered by Dr. Rama Ramswamy as Nodal Officer. More than 40 students have successfully cleared the UGC-NET/JRF and SLET. The passed out students of the Department have good placement record and many have then are working in central and state governments, PSUs and private sector organisations (including Mizoram University, Pachhunga University College, State Bank of India, Mizoram Rural Bank, Punjab National Bank, Food Corporation of India, and the office of the CA & AG, Government of India). The Department has produced 21 Ph.Ds and 23 M.Phils so far.
